Enrollment

Each year, GASC receives more than 2,500 enrollment applications from high school sophomores and juniors. Each application allows the student to make a first and second choice of a Skill Center class. Every section of the application must be completed and it must be signed by both the parent/guardian and the sending school counselor before it is forwarded to GASC for processing.

Every effort is made to give each student their first choice, however, in many instances more students apply than we can accommodate. In this case, a waiting list is developed and if openings occur during the summer months, students may have a chance to enroll in their chosen class during the first two weeks of school.

Student selections are made from every school in Genesee County and therefore, classes can become full simply by choosing one student from every school. It is up to the sending school counselor to make selection recommendations to GASC based on grades, attendance, behavior and interest. The student's Educational Development Plan (EDP) is also considered when making a match between students and classes.

To qualify for an application you must live in Genesee County and be classified as a sophomore, junior, or senior. Each year all sophomores receive a course catalog in the mail along with an enrollment application. You may also obtain an application from your school counselor or simply click on the link below for an electronic version.
